Given the scientific and societal relevance of coastal dynamics in which both natural and social perspectives can fit, how does communication between both spheres take place or how should it be done? What is the viewpoint of experts on coastal communication to lay audiences? The main purpose of this project is to explore the perceptions and attitudes of scientists towards science communication about coastal issues
The research project XpertCom – Views of Coastal Experts about Science Communication has the following objectives:
1) characterise the science communication done by coastal experts (frequency, motivation, topics),
2) map their main communication channels and target audiences, and
3) identify communication barriers.
To undertake this study, an online survey was conducted. Participants voluntarily filled out the survey after accepting an informed consent form, and their confidentiality and anonymity are assured.
